Taita Taveta county parents have been urged to invest more in their children’s education despite the harsh economic times being witnessed in the country.

Speaking recently in Voi, Mwatate, and Wundanyi during the launch of the disbursement of Kes. 70 million County Bursary Kit, Deputy Governor Hon. Christine Kilalo challenged parents to responsibly play their main roles, citing that the majority of parents are entirely banking on bursaries to fund their children’s education.

“As a parent, you have to perform your role well without depending on government and learning institutions. Today, we are issuing bursary but not enough to settle the entire school fees but to supplement,” said the Deputy Governor.

Education, Libraries, and Vocational Training Centres CECM Gloria Monikombo echoed the deputy governor’s sentiments and urged parents to closely monitor their children’s performance.

Acting Speaker Hon. Anselim Mwadime Chao emphasized that unity of purpose between the Governor Andrew Mwadime – Wakujaa administration and the county legislators has enabled the county record remarkable achievement including adding bursary kit.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied by a section of CECMs and Members of the County Assembly led by the Majority Leader Hon. Anthony Warighe Mng’ambwa (Bura).
