Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja will rally behind the BBI in a bid to rescue the County constituencies from being scrapped-off for failing to meet the threshold required as per the latest census results.

Speaking during the funeral service for nominated Taita Taveta County Assembly Member Hon. Anastanzia Wakesho at Challa ward, Taveta, Samboja said he will host a series of public meetings across the County to sensitize the general public on the importance to support the report.

“We fully support the BBI since it has shielded our constituencies from either being merged or being scrapped-off. Before the end of February next year I will organize for a mega rally where the public will be given an opportunity to air their views on the report.” He said.

His sentiments were echoed by other top leaders who joined him in eulogizing the late tourism ambassador, with the County Senator Johnes Mwaruma citing the BBI as a solution to the high unemployment rate among youths in the country.

Wundanyi legislator Danson Mwashako said the report will help compensate the undelivered promises by the Jubilee regime.

“Let’s utilize this opportunity given to us by our principals. As leaders of this County, we need to relook at the employment issues which the Jubilee government promised to deliver. It’s time we use the report to restore the youths trust for their leaders in this Country.” Mwashako said.

Deputy Governor Majala Mlagui eulogized the late Anastanzia as a dedicated ambassador in the tourism sector, calling upon the Taveta Member of Parliament Dr. Naomi Shaban to hasten the construction of Kajiado – Taveta road saying it will help open up the tourism potential within the County by implementing the road-map initiated by the late Hon. Anastanzia.

Taveta Member of Parliament Dr. Naomi Shaban urged the County Assembly to work on the tourism policy that will not only boost the local tourism but also increase the County revenue.

Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana eulogized the late as a dedicated and a humble leader who could spend her time volunteering for the society and called on County residents to borrow a leaf from the life of Hon. Anastanzia.
