Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani JKP has paid a courtesy call on H.E. Deputy Governor Majala Mlagui at the Governor’s Boardroom at Mwatate where JKP presented their interventions and what they will be doing for Taita Taveta County.

 

Hon Mlagui observed that the interactions were enlightening and added that the spirit of collaboration among departments should continue in a bid to prosper in the thematic areas of skill development through Vocational Training Centres VTCs in maritime, tourism and entrepreneurship sectors.

 

This was an avenue employed to collate information and understand the expectations of the County.

 

The data collected will then be helpful for the preparation of the Inception Report and consequently drafting for the signing of the MOU and its implementation.

 

The Deputy County Boss noted that the youth innovation hub in Voi can be incorporated in JKP programs in a bid to attract the youthful populace and convert them into meaningful members of society.

 

Gladys Mnjama, Sector Lead Financial Services and Investment, JKP said that more youths can be drawn into the fisheries sector through intensive mentorship in the area.

 

Arnoud Meijberg, Adviser GIZ, noted that their blueprint is in line with Taita Taveta County’s mission and vision to promote and actively participate in the achievement of economic, social and cultural development in a bid to ensure prosperity with thriving rural and urban economies.

 

The Go Blue programme focuses on inclusive and sustainable growth.

GIZ specifically endeavours to strengthen inclusive and sustainable blue economy value chains through skills development and matching to employment by providing youth and women with market-relevant skills in selected blue value chains to improve their economic and employment opportunities particularly in education, agriculture and trade.

 

In attendance were County Executive Committee Member CECM in charge of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation Davis Mwangoma, CECM in charge of Trade, Tourism, Cooperatives and Industrialisation Daniel Makoko, CECM in charge of Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Services Vumi Ringo, CECM in charge of Education, Libraries and VTCs Defence Manga, County Chief Officer CCO Agriculture Boniface Mwakio, CCO Livestock Amos Mwasi, JKP Liaison Reuben Ngeti, Director Gender and Social Services Wallace Mwaluma, Director Livestock Production Martin Luther Oyindo, Director Education and VTCs Raphael Chola, Sub County Fisheries Officer Julius Mukungo among other senior County officials.
