Residents of Wusi-Kishamba remain a satisfied lot after H.E. Governor commissioned two water projects in a bid to bring water services closer to the Taita Taveta County people at the grassroots level.
Governor Samboja noted that spreading the water agenda ensures that areas never been reached, get access to this precious commodity.
The Ikugunyi Water Project that targets to serve 350 households, saves residents the burden to walk 2 km of mountainous terrain.
Mwanginyi Water Project is to serve 600 households.
Area MCA Justin Juma thanked Governor Samboja’s administration as the projects are a relief for residents who had to reach water with difficulty.
The County Executive Committee Member CECM in charge of Water, Environment, Sanitation, Climate Change and Natural Resources Esther Mwanyumba noted that proper access to water helps people live a dignified life.
Wusi-Kishamba resident Betty Mkawughanga said that previously, fetching water from the seasonal river they depended on was not reliable since the source sometimes dried up.
She is now motivated to increase her farming activities because of the commissioned projects.
“ Without water, life is difficult. Water boosts health standards as reliable access prevents the spread of disease infections, “ Governor concluded.
The County Boss was accompanied by Nominated MCA Jackson Mwagharo, Chief of Staff Rachel Dawai, Gender Adviser Priscilla Mwangeka, County Chief Officer CCO Water, Environment, Sanitation, Climate Change and Natural Resources Reverend Silvanus Mwakoma, Chief of Protocol Amos Saleh, Philip Mwangwale CEO Taita Taveta County Education Fund Board, Wusi-Kishamba Ward Administrator Stanley Maigacho, Chawia Ward Administrator Mercy Mwazo, Administrator Governor’s Office Loice Shali among other senior County officials.
