H.E. Governor Granton Samboja conferred awards to medical practitioners for their dedication and invaluable service to the Taita Taveta County populace.
During a ceremony at Moi County Referral Hospital MCRH, Voi Governor Samboja promised to continually give special recognition, motivate and appreciate all deserving practitioners especially those at the grassroots level.
“ I have been receiving encouraging information on how medical staff have been effectively and efficiently responsive during emergency situations even at odd hours,” the County Boss reiterated.
The County Executive Committee Member CECM in charge of Health Services John  Mwakima noted how the Governor’s gestures were uplifting.
“ The team from my department works tirelessly to make sure they touch people’s lives,” Hon Mwakima remarked.
Medical Superintendent Felix Kimotho said that his colleagues in the department are ready to sacrifice to ensure their work is exemplary and ultimately save people’s lives.
Mwatate MCA Abednego Mwanjala, also representing the Health Committee,  was pleased by the staff’s performance.
Meanwhile the union membership represented, speaking the same language with the County Boss, added that dialogue was very important in addressing welfare issues.
Governor Samboja noted that many firsts have been witnessed in the health sector under his administration.
“ We recently had a first hip replacement surgery at MCRH. The facility houses the pioneering cancer centre and eye centre. Residents need not travel to neighbouring countries or towns to get related services. The 160 bed capacity ward at Mwatate is on the verge of completion and is furnished with the first ever ICU in the County, “ the County Boss concluded.
He was flanked by County Secretary CS Liverson Mghendi, Governor’s PA Wilfred Mwalimo, County Executive Committee Member CECM in charge of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation Davis Mwangoma, CECM in charge of Education, Libraries and Vocational Training Centres VTCs Defence Manga, Chief of Protocol Amos Mkari Saleh, Administrator Governor’s Office Loice Shali, Director Education Raphael Chola,Chawia Ward Administrator Mercy Mwazo, Sagala Ward Administrator Stanley Makeo, First Lady Representative Margaret Kawuki, among other senior County officials.
