H.E. Governor Andrew Mwadime has chaired an introductory meeting with the Kenya Red Cross Society KRCS to discuss areas of partnerships with the British Red Cross BRC and International Federation of Red Cross IFRC.
Governor Mwadime welcomed this move stating that strategic partnerships can ensure sustainable development is witnessed swiftly in the County of Taita Taveta.
“ With intensified collaborations, solutions are brought on board to directly impact people at the grassroots level. We believe the citizenry can benefit greatly from investments in water projects among other key areas,” the County Boss stated.
KRCS County Coordinator Joram Oranga noted that key thematic areas dealt with include water, infrastructure, healthcare, Sexual Gender-Based Violence SGBV, Gender inclusion and protection, food security and livelihoods, climate change, disaster management and response.
A renewed MoU is set to be realized in the mentioned areas.
“ I acknowledge work done by KRCS and I am calling for more sittings like this so we can solidify our relationships with development partners that seek to benefit the grassroots populace, “ Governor Mwadime concluded.
Among the projects in line for implementation are Kidong-Mwangaza Pipeline (KES 14 million); Kidong Extension works (KES 11 million); Mwaroko-Iyombonyi-Sinai Water Supply Projects (KES 15 million).
Projects at design stage include Mata Water Supply Projects (KES60 million); Mbulia -Kishushe Water Supply(KES 27 million); Total funding for IFSL is 1 million GBP; USAID funding is KES 80 million.
