Taita Taveta County Government through the Directorate of Energy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with OVO charitable foundation for the implementation of PROJECT JUA targeting to benefit schools and clinics in the County.
This solar program further seeks to provide alternative sources of energy to mitigate energy challenges in the County.
The objective is to power 12 schools across the county in relation to the laptop project and other ICT infrastructure rolled out by the National Government.
14 health facilities will benefit in terms of supporting cold storage vaccines, value chain, delivery for expectant mothers and powering equipment like autoclave.
The foundation will continue to monitor the project for the next 2 years remotely to ensure its sustainability.

Mwandawiro Mghanga, CECM in charge of Trade, Tourism and Cooperatives Ms. Vumi Ringo, County Secretary Mr. Liverson Mghendi, Governor’s Economic Advisor Mr.Mathew Njoroge and County Legal Director Mr.Edwin Chahilu,Tilen Ogola -Senior Analyst Energy 4 Impact, Ms. Christine Mwakera CCO Trade, Tourism, Cooperatives among other County officials.
